Did you know Wake County has a published local teen author? Andrea McKerlie, an Apex resident and Eva Perry Library patron, has published one book and is already working on her 2nd.
McKerlie’s first book, Until We Meet Again, is owned by the Wake County Libraries, published in 2006 by Authorhouse. Her 2nd title is called Some Other Time. Her books sound like a mixture of contemporary literature and fantasy. She was featured as an author at a Barnes and Noble event in May of 2006 and has her own blog called Andreawriter.
Quote from her website:
Andrea McKerlie is sixteen years old and lives with her parents and sister. She lives for music–Andrea is a complete band dork. She has played the flute for five years, is involved in symphonic band, is the drum major of her school’s marching band, and could tell you almost anything you wanted to know about the music of Danny Elfman, ELO, The Beatles, Beethoven, Bowling for Soup, or Avril Lavigne. In addition to writing, she likes singing (in the shower), kayaking, playing the piano, and is addicted to movie-watching.
Andrea also recently starred in the Eva Perry Library Nifty 50s play as Peggy Sue, sweetheart of the town. Try reading Andrea’s book and let her know what you think at her blog, Andreawriter.

I am glad to share my name with a teen writer! I’m at East Regional Library and love reading your posts. Congratulations on such success…if only I could do something that cool.

Thanks, Andrea! That means a lot! Did you know that the name “Andrea” means “intelligent and spirited”? Anyway–thanks for the support. “Some Other Time” is nearly finished, but I have so much last-minute back-to-school stuff going on that I haven’t been as quick with it as I would’ve liked…but I’ll keep ‘ya posted!
