Book of the Day: Clay by David Almond

Just because you can do something, does that mean that you should?

That question comes up in this creepy but excellent novel, equal parts Frankenstein and Golem. Davie and the new kid in town discover that they have the disturbing power to create a monster, and whether it is a good idea or not, they do. But does that make them responsible for it?

Davie is feeling equally enthralled with the monster’s power but horrified by its behavior. This book is entrancing, scary, and just realistic enough to think, hmm, maybe it could happen… I loved it. And just looking at the cover gives me chills!
