Our 7th annual Teen Poetry Contest is officially open for submissions!
Love to write? Love the library? Feeling inspired?
- Entries will be accepted February 1 through March 15, 2012.
- This contest is open to teens in grades 6-12 only.
- Teens can submit up to three(3) original poems using the online entry form.
- Entries must be original works and teachers may assign the project for extra credit within their respective classrooms.
- Theme and topics may be determined by the poets, but a special winning category will be considered for poems inspired by The Fantastic Sky Race banner project on the Wake County Parking Garage. This special category will be judged by the artists from the banner project, Justin Philips, Joe Dawson and Jordan Deva.
- Prizes will also be awarded to the best poem for Grade 6, Grades 7 & 8, Grades 9 & 10, and Grades 11 & 12.
- A fan favorite will be selected through votes on the WCPL Facebook page during the month of April.
- One prize per person.
- Winners will be announced Monday, April 2, 2012 on the WCPL Facebook page and WCPL website.
- All entrants will be invited to read their poems at teen poetry events throughout Wake County during National Poetry Month in April.
