As a member of the Eva Perry Mock Printz club, I look forward to the announcement of the Printz Award winners every year. This year, I was extremely curious to see who would win, seeing as the selection of books this year wasn’t that great.
To get a Printz award, a book must have certain qualities. They include but aren’t limited to; a strong plot line that is well done, and keeps the reader turning the pages, well written characters (they can’t be flat, you have to feel like they are easy to relate to ) a strong teen voice (this is a big deal). Overall the book has to be pretty darn close to perfect. It must pull in all types of teen audiences, it can’t focus just on sci/fi, or romantic audiences. The writing style also has to be well done too. If the writing is choppy, or just doesn’t flow right, the book isn’t considered a Printz winner.
