Student Poetry Contest for Grades 6-12 in Wake County


Express yourself! We want to hear your voice.

All Wake County middle school and high school students, whether in public, private, charter, or home school are invited to enter our student poetry contest.

Submit one poem on a theme of your choice in the form of a Microsoft Word document (version 2003 or earlier) and email it to

Please include your name, address, phone number, and name of school and grade.  Entries are due by March 15, 2008.

Winners will be notified in April. Each winner will be invited to read their poem at a special reading held at Cameron Village Library on Sunday, April 27th at 2 pm. Prizes will be given to our winners.

  6. I’m a 6th grader at Salem Middle School and I entered already because my Language Arts teacher loves my essays and stuff and said I should try it. It’s called “The World of Books”. I wrote it last year in AG and edited it and entered it.
