The story takes place during World War II. A young teenager named Tobias Parker has signed up for the war and is stationed in the Ardennes sector. The Germans attack and take him Prisoner of War twice, but both times he escapes. He becomes leader of a group of other Missing in Actions, and they all try to escape back to Bastogne and out of German territory. Will Parker make it back? Or will he get captured and sent to a concentration camp?
The book is a very touching novel. People who Parker develops bonds to die. The book has mature content, though, and is not recommended for people under the age of 13. It is also very gruesome at some points, so if you can’t tolerate blood and gore, this book is not a good book. If you are able to read it and mind the mature content, though, this book shows war in its real picture. This book, in my opinion, is a 6 out of 10.
