It’s that time of the year again – the holiday season. For some people, this can be the most exciting time of the year, while others might not share the same passion for the gentle snowflakes (which we only get about once a year, unfortunately, in my opinion) and bright holiday lights. However, it doesn’t matter whether you love the holiday season or not when it comes to loving these holiday movies.
Every year, my cousins, my sister, and I have a tradition of watching holiday movies that the entire family can enjoy. Here are some of our favorites that you can share with your family this season –
This hilarious holiday movie starring Will Ferrell is about a North Pole elf who discovers that he is not really an elf, but an adopted human, and his journey to find and become close to his biological father. One of my favorite aspects of the movie is that it is perfect for all ages, so even your youngest siblings can enjoy this movie with you. (My cousins and I have been watching this movie every year with our whole family since it came out, which was seven years ago. My sister, who was only six at the time, enjoyed it, while my cousin, who is now eighteen, enjoys it just as much!)
Home Alone – Parts 1 and 2
These two movies are about a young boy who has to take care of himself, as well as, deal with two criminals during the holidays. In the first movie, this is because he is actually forgotten at home when his (extremely large) extended family goes out of town. In the second movie, it is because he gets lost in the airport and ends up in a different country than his family. Once again, the movie is appropriate for all ages, and everybody will enjoy it – from your five year old siblings to your great-grandmother.
All of these movies are ones that my family has continued to enjoy over the years, but if you are still interested for more, I would recommend How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Santa Claus, The Polar Express, and A Christmas Carol. (Many of these came from some great books too!) Happy holidays!
