Valentines for Vets

Valentines HeartsEvery year, for at least the last 10 years, the Wake County Public Libraries have hosted Valentines for Vets throughout the different branches. There have been program nights where you can obtain community service hours & passive programs where kids & teens alike can stop by to simply decorate a valentine that we’ll mail out.

While many veterans receive visitors for some of the more major holidays, Valentine’s Day is often forgotten. Several years ago, Ann Landers (the famous advice columnist) wrote a column about the importance of giving back to those who have given so much for our country. A simple card makes their day so much brighter & this year we are continuing the tradition! There are several different opportunities to make a valentine in these branches:

Duraleigh Road Community Library– You must make 5 valentines at home & bring them in order to receive community service hours.
Stop by now through February 8th to decorate our available valentines!

Fuquay-Varina Community Library

Leesville Community Library-You can obtain community service hours by dropping in.
Stop by now through February 7th to decorate our available valentines!

Zebulon Community Library
Program night February 7th from 5:30-6:30 P. M.

Please consider stopping by any of these branches to make a Valentine for a Veteran. There are only a few simple rules to follow:

1.       Only sign your first name
2.       Keep the note positive
3.       Be sure to say thank you
4.       Don’t mention their health
