Movie Review: Lemonade Mouth

I feel kind of weird writing a blog post on a Disney Channel movie. But I actually liked watching this one. It’s the usual “outcasts” of the school throwing aside their differences for a common interest – music.

Stella (Hayley Kiyoko), Olivia (Bridgit Mendler), Charlie (Blake Michael), Mo (Naomi Scott), and Wen (Adam Hicks) meet in detention. After singing together “Turn Up the Music”, they perform at the Halloween bash and are an instant hit…but the rivaling boy band Mudslide Crush, led by Ray, is furious. This is actually based off of a book called by the same name, Lemonade Mouth by Mark Peter Hughes. I actually haven’t read it yet, but I’ll get to that soon. Meanwhile, you can check it out at your nearest Wake County Public Library here.

Amazingly enough, their soundtrack is now #8 on iTunes, the most popular being “Determinate“. Other popular songs include “Somebody” and “Breakthrough“.

I suppose this is a replacement for the High School musical cast, now that they’re all grown up and acting in movies like 17 Again (which, by the way, I thought was a weird movie) and Beastly.
