District 12 Has Awesome Hairstyles.

So…

I watched the Hunger Games!

I waited a week after the movie came out to watch it, and then I went and watched it twice. Though a bit too artsy for my liking, it didn’t disappoint. It was nothing like how I felt after Percy Jackson (ugh), and I’m looking forward to Catching Fire.

But this isn’t a movie review.

What I primarily noticed was the hairstyles, particularly the braids from District 12. So I had to come home…and try them on my sister (I have really layered hair so it never works on me D:).

1) Primrose Everdeen’s French Braids

These look really cute and are fairly easy to braid, as long as you know how to French braid. I followed this tutorial on Youtube.

Basically, you separate your hair into two sections and braids backwards, keeping the French braid closer to the ear. and then once you switch to a normal braid, start braiding towards the front so that they end up…in the front.

What you could wear this with…basically anything! You can search up on Pinterest; I’m sure there’s plenty of artsy pictures going around of these braids. I’m thinking more of Peter Pan collars, flow-y tops, sparrow print, etc.

And here is how it turned out.

2) Katniss’s Reaping Hairstyle

(I couldn’t really find a good picture of it…) I used this video. Basically I just took the previous braids that I made and just put them up Katniss-style.

Here’s how it turned out.

And of course there’s the braid that sweeps from one side of the head to the other side that Katniss wears basically for the whole movie. My sister squirmed away from me before I could try that one out, so perhaps another time. You can easily find a tutorial for the Dutch braid on Youtube.

Toodles!
