Zoey Redbird is becoming accustomed to her new status at the House of Night boarding school. Now that she has given a few Vampyre Ghosts the boot and in the process become the leader of the Dark Daughters, she believes she’s found the place she truly belongs. But she also learns that things at the school may not always be what they seem, and she will have to face a betrayal larger than any she could have ever expected.
Even though this is the second book in a series, you don’t have to read the first one to enjoy this one. And there are more to come! The House of Night seems like a really fun place to go to school, and the mixture of Vampire legends and Witchcraft creates an interesting new world to explore. This is the first book I’ve read that puts forth the idea that Vampyres are not dead, but rather just changed. It’s an interesting concept and really fun to read.
It’s also interesting to note that the authors are a mother-daughter team. I found that to be pretty intriguing!
Betrayed is a nominee for the 2008 Teens’ Top Ten. To read more about the Teens’ Top Ten program, click here. To request this book from the library, click here. And don’t forget to place your vote during Teen Read Week, October 12-18, 2008.
